Content Area Meetings
This Wednesday, we have scheduled the Content Area meetings. If you check the Google Classrooms for your respective content areas you will find the instructions for the work of the afternoon.
We do have quite a bit of work still left ahead of us. Wednesday’s work will begin the process of examining the Guiding Principles and how they will work for our students during the year. Please spend about 10 unites, as a group reviewing the Guiding Principles. The remainder of the time, please review PBL Progress Report for your content areas to make yourself knowledgeable of where your content area is in the process and what next steps are needed.
I do ask that you select a note taker for the group and report back to the classroom on your progress.
Teacher Workshop Day
We have a very busy day scheduled for Friday, October 7. The entire district will meet in the GMS auditorium for a presentation from the Star 360 folks. They will be demonstrating all of the features of this new system that will help to make our jobs a bit easier. Many of these features are exactly the type of elements we have been looking for in assisting us to bring our students to a higher level of achievement. This session will begin at 8:00 am and should last about 90 minutes.
After the session with the full faculty, each school will retire to an assigned wing at the middle school where the” Star 360 Champions” will provide a more detailed and school specific training on using the many features of Star 360. You all will need to have your laptops with you for this session.
Lunch will be on your own, and should be at about 11:45.
After lunch, all Advisory Clusters will meet to use the features that were demonstrated in both morning sessions and review the results of your own students. This session should begin at 12:00 and continue until 1:30 pm, at which time we will all gather back in the Library for a quick check-in with the entire faculty. I will be most interested in learning about what each advisory Cluster learns about their students, elements of the Star 360 Program that can help all of us, so please be prepared to share one or two ideas that you discovered during the day’s work.
My Learning Plan Work
Thank you all for completing your Self assessment and Goals in the MyLearning Plan System. Susie and I will be scheduling meetings with each of you to hold the face-to-face meetings to discuss the Self Assessment and your goals in the next few weeks. We will also begin the scheduling of formal observations in the coming weeks complete with Pre-Observation, Post Observation meetings to discuss the formal observation.
You may always upload any information or evidence toward your Domain 1 and 4 goals at any time, as well as any evidence toward your Peer Observation portion of the plan at any time. I suggest that you use the system that we outlined at our meeting where you use a “live link” to your Google Drive folder for Domain 1 and 4 evidence. This is just a nice safeguard in the event of a loss at the system level.
We have scheduled a Lockdown Drill with the Gorham Police Department for Tuesday, October 18 at 9:15am. We will be sending information to all parents and guardians in the days prior to the actual drill. We will also be testing our Blackboard system to determine the effectiveness and the reach of the program.
Please review your crisis plans with your students prior to the drill and make sure that you have all the necessary items (green cards) for the drill.
