Laptops Over the Thanksgiving Break
Mike has been busy getting the 7th grade laptops re-imaged, and he should have them all done before the end of the day on Tuesday. He has no other plans for the rest of the devices during the break, so there is no real reason to keep them out of the hands of the kids. So. the laptops may go home during the break.
Leadership Team Meeting Agenda
We have a Team Leaders meeting on Wednesday December 2 from 2:30 to 4:00 in Melanie’s room. Here is our agenda for the day.
- Reports from Leaders
- Budget deliberations and information
- Early Release Day (student day) for January 13
Fund Raising and Money Issues
I know that we don’t do anywhere as much fund raising as we have in the past, but it is important that we follow the protocols that we set up a couple of years ago. Each year, the District Auditors cite us (that’s not a good thing!) for not making deposits in a timely manner. Actually, we do make deposits when we get the funds, but some of the checks are dated 3 and 4 weeks prior to when the fundraising campaign ends, and these checks sit in teachers drawers or cabinets until “everything” is collected. This cannot happen anymore. Checks should be given to Kristen on the day the are received. There are two reasons for this. One, to keep our Auditors happy that we are doing our job correctly, and two, because we receive phone calls from the check writer complaining that their check hasn’t cleared their bank!
Please, if you are going to conduct a fund raiser for your class or organization, please touch base with Kristen and get all of the details and requirements for doing it correctly.
Change in the December Dance Date
It appears that the vaunted GHS Boys Basketball Team will be tipping off against neighbor Westbrook on the evening of our scheduled soiree. The feeling that this additional event may cut into possible profits and that our very own DJ Adam Parvanta provides music to stir the crowd during these home basketball games, we have changed the date from December 11 to the next Friday night, December 18.
Please mark your calendars with this change.
As we approach this Thanksgiving Break, I know we all have much for which we are all thankful. That we all live and work in a community as wonderful as Gorham, a community that rallies round when the times get tough and support those of us who need an uplifting hand. The evidence is abundant. The manner in which each of you has dipped into your own personal funds to ensure that the less fortunate in our community will at least enjoy a bountiful holiday meal.
The manner in which each of you touched the old (and broken soul) of the Principal during a difficult time. I am always reminded that I have an over abundance of reasons to be thankful.
I wish you all the best of the Thanksgiving season. If you are traveling, I wish you safe journeys, and, if your loved ones are traveling to you, may the have a safe passage and bring you all the joys of the season.
